Sydney

Who?
Your friends and mine, a selection of embroiderers’ creativity
from around NSW.

AC CVO, Governor of NSW, followed by a scrumptious morning tea and first
look at the exhibition.
Who can come?
The first 100 people to book! Be quick, tickets going fast! Ticket
price $20 per head for a scrumptious morning tea.
Please make cheques payable to the Guild and RSVP to the Guild, or better
still, call up with your credit card details and organise your friends
to come (stitching and none-stitching.) (Chris Selley 9743 2501)
What is being exhibited?
A selection of original textiles by Guild members and which will be
treated as works of art.
The works are characterised by their self expression, creativity, originality
and how they redefine the ordinary into the extraordinary.
In our reflections, we are looking at ourselves, how we stitch textiles,
we are looking at our origins, the importance of enjoying our collective,
stitching journey and the importance of our companions on the journey.
We are looking to make an impact in the heart of Sydney's CBD and tell
the story of the Guild, what we have become and what we offer to the people
of NSW.
Can you help?
Two to three volunteers are still needed on Monday 30 July to assist
with setting up the exhibition. No previous experience required.
You will be required to unpack the works, lay them out in order and assist
with their hanging.
No climbing of ladders required. Would love you to be calm and have a
happy disposition and for you to be able to work efficiently, quietly
and with attention to detail, but still have fun, laugh and learn lots!
If this sounds like you, please contact Janet Howse (9566 1766 evenings,

Roster of hostesses
Maureen Hazlewood of the Lateral Stitchers is organising the roster
of hostesses to staff the exhibition during August, Mondays to Fridays.
Please don't wait for her to contact you, why don't you offer a morning
or an afternoon, or a whole day to help your Guild, show visitors around
the exhibition, explain the works and learn a lot yourself?
Maureen can be contacted on 4393 0114 and email:moffatpurple@yahoo.com.au.
How do I know if my work has been selected for Parliament
House?
All rights are reserved to make the final decisions regarding the
hanging of works up to 1 August.
Whilst there is a layout plan for the exhibition, many of you will realise
that it won't be until the actual hanging that we will definitely find
out what will work and what won't. So, like all creative types, I am reserving
the right to make the final decisions about what will be hung and how
it will be hung and you won't find out in advance!
Parliament House is a particularly special space and we want to make it
a simply wonderful exhibition to showcase a selection of our members'
talents.
As they say, see you there!
