The last few weeks have been busy ones at Guild Headquarters with the end of the financial year and a number of very welcome visits. The stocktake of the Threaded Needle was done by Doris Waltho and a group of helpers. This is a large task and thank you to all who helped get it done so efficiently. Group accounts and membership renewals are now due at Headquarters. If you have any queries or concerns please contact our secretary, Chris, or Margaret Smith, our Hon Treasurer.
We are very happy to announce that Judith Smart is taking on the position of Guild Archivist. Judith has had a long association with the Guild and has a tremendous knowledge of our history and we thank her for taking on this important position. Work has also continued on the transfer of the collection catalogue from cards to computer and concurrent stocktake of all pieces as well. The re-organisation of various aspects of the library and the recovering and refurbishment of a lot of the books has kept the library team very busy.
We are mid way through a visit from Jean Draper of the UK who is conducting two Master classes and a Drawing for embroidery class. These are proving to be just as popular as her classes were last year and it is a pleasure to welcome Jean back to our Guild.
Two Groups have visited Headquarters this month, Wollondilly and the Lower Blue Mountains. I enjoyed having the time to meet and talk to members who do not often have a chance to get to headquarters, and to share their delight at discovering the treasures of our collection. Annette Moylan and I had the pleasure of visiting the Newcastle Branch and discussing aspects of the Guild which interested or concerned the Newcastle members. We are a members’ organisation and the input of members at all levels is very important at Group meetings, members’ meetings and at the AGM It is particularly important for the committee to have as broad a base as possible and I urge you to consider nominating for a position on next years committee. The form appears elsewhere in this issue of The Record. You do not have to live in Sydney to be a committee member as a lot of work and communication is done via email.
Keep well and warm and happy stitching.
